DAS VIEWERS
These DAS viewers (Arabidopsis, C elegans and Human) although
functional, are still in constant flux and development.
They have been tested on Netscape and Internet Explorer.
A typical image shown below
after a query that was submitted to "An Arabidopsis DAS Viewer":
Some Characteristics and Functionality of each DAS Viewer
-
Each Server is contained within a panel and
a description of the annotations served is shown at the top
of each panel, followed by a comb.
-
Each Track within the panel contains one type
of feature. The lower portion of each panel, contains a key
that depicts the features that are shown in the region requested.
-
Each object is linked to a html page that will
return more information.
-
Scrolling over each object, will display in the status line, a
description of the object (on Netscape). In the example shown above, scrolling over a tc_enzyme has returned "putative pectate lyase Arabidopsis thaliana Start:2212736 Stop:2216460"
-
Moving along the chromosome is carried out using the set of buttons at the top of the form.
-
Maximium segment to be queried is set to 20,000,000 at the
viewer side, however this is also dependent upon the server
-
Change chromosome by using the combo box at the end of the
form
-
Radio buttons allow the user to select/deselect Annotation
Servers or the Reference Server.
-
Click on "features" and "types" to get XML returns within the region to be queried
-
Click on "features" and "Table" to get XML returns in a table format and a graphical representation of it within the region to be queried
-
Click on DNA to return the DNA sequence
within the region that was requested
-
Exclude objects by using the combo box
-

"A C elegans DAS Viewer" The following image demonstrates
at least internally, the ability to draw on multiple distant web sites.
In the example shown below, the Reference Server for C elegans served
at WUSTL is shown above the Alignments of C elegans TCs served
at TIGR
